First week of June, 1999.

==========================================

A vacation means a break from the daily headaches and stress

Just like when you were in grade school and went to recess

It is a time meant for unwinding, relaxing, and feeling good

Some people take trips just like the ones they took in their childhood

Some people go to the beach, to swim, others to build sand castles, yet others to find someone to fulfill their emotional needs

While others go there with a book , they have not had the time to read

Amusement parks are a great place to be entertained

Even though the protective device has you safely and securely restrained

You still receive the rush of going on the fastest and most dangerous rides

But it does not have to be elaborate or expensive, it could include a lovely picnic on a scenic hillside

Some people spend their vacations doing things around the house that they normally don't find the time to do

Or touring local landmarks, museums, a night at the opera, shopping, or a day at the zoo

The important part is not to over do it

If you ad more aggravation to your life, the vacation will be of no benefit

It may not involve everything that you intend

But one thing that every vacation has, is that you wish it would never end

The best of luck on a pleasurable vacation from a caring friend

For my Mom....

At the end of your life

could you hear how I cried?

Did it make you happy or sad

to know how I grieved

Did you know all those things

I could not bring myself to say?

How I wanted to take it all away

and re-live yesterday

The notes we'd write to each other

the phone calls of amends

the "I love you's" written in the palm of my hand

the summer flowers next to my bed

But to do that would sacrifice

who we grew to be

adult equals and friends

I loved you, you know

beginning, middle and end

Memories

Memories have gone away,

yet I see you everyday.

I see your eyes as

dark as night. Thinking

I'm in your arms.

I feel your breath on

my neck, then I began to

sweat.

I see the moon and see your

smile. Your skin so soft, your

hands so mild. How I love you

my sweet angel?

I'm turning around at different

angles. Your soft kiss so soft,

so sweet.

My baby love I'm off my feet.

Kiss me once & once again.

I will love my sweetheart

forever & ever.

----------------------------

Mommy

Listen to me, Mommy

when I speak to you.

Watch me closely, Mommy

I need to be seen, too.

Don't look through me, Mommy

I have to know you care.

My eyes are crying, Mommy

they're showing my despair.

I want you to know me, Mommy

what is it that I lack?

If I could find the wrongs, Mommy

I'd surely take them back.

But you can't blame me, Mommy

For things I'm not to be.

All I ask is love, Mommy

Why can't you just love me?

----------------------------------

to ponder the guises of mistrust

And to fathom the notion

That exists the realm of fiction

Forever challenging the notion

That encompasses your whimsical mind

Shadows of guilded satire

This is the true meaning of fortitude

Encompass the passions of sexuality

The feminine gender will prevail

atrocities spellbound from youth

This shall foreshadow their destiny

For as day turns to night

Do gather your stride to journey untold

A

Prayer

of a poet

I write in your praise

I write in your wisdom

I write to show my soul

I ask you to bless my effort

I write my view of the world

I draw on what others write of you

I imagine new world from the ordinary

I bring forth your varied beauty

I see a poem where no one does

I expand my mind to engulf it

I run it through my mind

I offer you my poem

I Ask a favor

I can do anything in return

"Reading poetry to the uninterested

May not become my destiny"

I pray

One bright day

In the middle of the night

Two dead boys got up to fight

Back to back they faced each other

Drew their swords and shot each other

The deaf policeman heard the noise

Came and shot the two dead boys

If you don't believe my lie is true

Ask the blind man he saw it too!

PERMEABLE
by Linda McGeary

I am myself.

I am also you.

I know this because

sometimes

I feel you in my face,

my smile, my voice,

laugh, walk.

You have left your

impression

on my skin, in my bone,

mind, soul.

Just as I am in you.

We touch...and rub off on each other,

the alchemy of permeability.

I am a complex of others.

I am myself.

-----------------------------

Life of a tear

My last tear has fallen. Fallen to it's death.

Unwillingly I let it splash. Splash to it's death.

Not wanting to die but willing to go.

Peaceful nevertheless but frightening just the same.

----------------------

"From Tee to Green"

At the tee you must think your best

for the round ahead of you proves a real test

You take your back swing and swing down with great might

hoping that the ball will fly with the right flight

the only thing to stop the ball may be the morning dew

then you may proceed to go along with your golfing crew

As you reach the fairway, you lean

to see if you can snatch a glimpse of the green

Your second shot requires precision

therefore, you must make a very good decision

When you are on the green, near the pin

you must study your putt then put it in

The first hole may have been a test

but there is still other holes to play your best

Golf may be a great game

but don't expect it to bring you much fame

Unless you make it your profession

Don't expect perfection.

--------------------------------------

dainty , dizzy little little things

I've come undone

i've been unwound

unwound , undone, undone , unwound

me been undone

my layers have been peeled off

I am exposed

my clothing layers have been ripped from me

and i stand naked before you

I'm here before you , all undone

and dizzy little things are waltzing by

and your look not

I am undone! undone ! undone!

Look! I'm here before you, unwound

and you can't even see!

I made the first step you make the second.

WHEN WE WERE RAW

before mortgages ,black minks or diamond rings,

prior to education, transatlantic trips or Caribbean treats,

even before relaxers on coarse tree like hair

we wore fat braids that stood attention on our hard heads

we had teeth that ate sunlight and smiles that gave back it's rays

we had chipped polished hands we stuck defiantly on imaginary hips

before we caught poise like a bad case of summer chicken pox,

we sprang from moving cars and fought like black haired gyps women

we gossiped without shame before babies and husbands came

before hearing MaMa etiquette lessons,

we danced bare footed to music in our heads, on top of hooded cars in a Chicago

rain

we wore hot pink haughty hats with matching shades of lip color,

before God humbled our hearts with life's hard knocks

we were indigent with raw claws

before we came or arrived

before we were dressed in creme colored elegance

before we were tempered with compassion

we were raw

----------------------------------------------

crawling.

crawled with

woman on her

mind

blowing dust against

my igloo

and a dream (so softly)

put to sleep by the vet.

(as i gently make toys by your bed)

------------------------------

I am the shadow, the bloodless blurred

image in a popular photograph that is off-

centered and always ignored, yet

always there. Scales on my skin

for protection and safety behind

sarcasm-- keeping me from nudity and

leaving me undressed at the same time.

A joke, for the kids, a yoke is the claim for romantic ideals that motivate a behavior of production that is as tedious as it is fake; and it continues as it will with bad clichés and repetitive response and reaction and action under the claim of originality, or endurance.

---------------------------

Poetic Mountains

It is an awesome thought,

Under those of existence,

That turns us to the next page,

Searching for truths that are not there.

Bridled by those riding us

Into their so called sunsets,

It becomes more difficult

To follow in freedom's gallop.

But oppressors are of

A narrow mindset, blinded

By the golden seeds of life.

Removing reins, they look away.

Not fearing consequence

Into the mountains we run.

Overcoming obstacles

Mere mortals could not comprehend.

With a subtle patients,

We reach the summit, arms stretched.

And place a kiss on the face

Of our heart's one true creator.

BORDERLAND (for J.J.)

Whatever happened to honesty!

In the interests of friendship let's call it compromise

Truth being barbs dragged across mouthy flesh

The tongue looped back into a knot

Knot on knot into a crocheted webbing

Pulling lose under the tension of its creativity

History has a tale with the telling

But whose word muscle threads its silky oratory

And whose slithers on its snake belly

Wars have been fought about this!

Great men have bloated into greater fools

As they chance wisdom on foolish ambition

And still they gouge frontiers

In the more palpable regions of the mind

Scratch Me! And I bleed English Blood!

And You! Your just a bloody Scot!

Scouring old battlefields for yet more grudges

Drawing a line between us you call nationhood

-------------------------------

DUSK PERCEPTION

What with the gathering clouds

and descending twilight,

I probably shouldn't have been surprised

that the park was deserted.

But it was something about those colored slides,

rendered somehow suddenly stoic --

Their silly workday over:

no more diapers,

no more chocolatey hands,

or frantic young mothers calling for Billy.

The entire plastic skyline perfectly still --

(except for that one swing,

giggling at the sly breeze's feathery touch).

----------------------------------------

SUMMER - to my mom

Sun-painted memories of warm summers past

a smile welcomed journey from future's cast

waves crashing and washing the sand from our feet

a moment's reflection caught giggling sweet.

Embracing the windstorm of time-traveled thought

yesterday's laughter and innocence caught

of giggles and games, of dancing and rhyme

warming contentment or your hand in mine

Yesterday's memories painting my mind

of happiness, laughter, and dreams of all kinds

the great and the small dreams surely come true

divine is to beckon my childhood with you

-------------------------------------

PASSENGER

Green forest blur

on the highway passing-

pastures, cattle and fences

to break the monotony

as you count yellow stripes

streaking by.

Sleep comes slowly,

at last taking over

to dream-

of fascinating worlds

that may never be seen...

down here.

"The Cycle"
Heather Merrill

Where my pencil meets the paper, and my fingers touch the sky.

Where the snow heals the ground, and a voice lets out a sigh.

Where the air meets my face, and the wind blows through my hair.

I try to slow my pace, but my body doesn't care.

My feet move faster and faster, over the cold hard ground.

My eyes tell me not to blink, because I am loosing I have found.

I don't know what to do, so I lay down in my bed.

I'm running even faster now, and my body feels like lead.

Where the shovel meets the dirt, and the wood touches soil.

Where I'm enclosed by the earth, and my body stirs and toils.

Where I stop dead in my tracks, and head down another path.

----------------------------------

Let's Talk

So I heard you called

and wanted to talk

Don't forget that your the one

who told me to walk

The tears roll down

as I pick up the phone

I think of the words

to say if your home

The adrenaline rises

as I hear your voice

but I'm suddenly reminded

that this was your choice

I tell you I love you

and my hearts in despair

which all crashes down

when you tell----

I left my keys there!?!?!?!?

-----------------------------

*I love the smiles as they flirt away...

*I like the dawn when night turns ta day...

*I love the heart how it spoils everything...

*I keep my mind sharp...

*To be sure my heart says locked away...

Till Death,

"edge of light"

I am standing on the edge of blackness

An abyss of emotional tides lapping at my feet

Am I to jump in or should I just wait for it to come to me?

Evening air is thick and claws at my lungs

My heart pounds in my ears, slowly, struggling

Each labored breath more difficult with the next

It's so high a climb, this cliff

The dizzying height pulls me down

My knees are crushed toward the gournd by the weight

Is it me?

I do not know

With a shrug I just stare.

I'm staring blindly at the sun

Tears burning from my eyes by the heated light

Crying would be in vain

As the pain builds I begin to clearly see

I know what I must do

In the end its all the same, don't you think?

A CHILD'S VIEW OF SADNESS

Sadness is blue...

It sounds like the plop of your ice-cream on the sidewalk...

It smells like burnt hair under a hairdryer...

It tastes like brownies when sugar was switched with salt...

Sadness feels like your best friend died.

AN ADULT'S VIEW OF SADNESS

IT sounds like the thump of a love one hitting the floor after they have shot them self...

It smells like the embalming of your spouse...

It tastes like your last meal...

Sadness feels like running a marathon without liquid and then drinking mineral water.

------------------------------

What has life to offer

to one so sad and blue,

You think not much love,

But that just isn't true

You have sunshine in the morning

and my arms to hold you tight

and if you ever need me

I'll rock you through the night

I Am Too Many Things

I am the daughter excited about her handsome football date.

I am the date amazed at how beautiful the daughter is.

I am the mother worrying about her daughter being with her date.

I am the father laughing at the mother's foolishness.

I am the beer bottle... empty and the beverage in the date.

I am the fear in the daughter's eyes.

I am the son that answers the frightening telephone call.

I am the blood gushing out of the daughter in the car accident with her date.

I am no longer the date for he died instantly.

I am the doctor that tells the crying father, mother, and son that she is dead.

I am the mother's tears for she remembers her ill feelings before the call.

I am the father's weakness for no matter how strong, the daughter won't return.

I am the son's power for he feels he can get revenge.

I am the bystander that has seen all but has no one to embrace.

------------------------------

Sun bleached miles roll by, my memories swing,

Questing, compass like,

For an illusive answer: Those I've loved

Those I've met- infrequent letters, picture perfect post cards from tiny outpost towns

And jealous fingers tracing journeys on a map -

Those that money, ambition and boredom have forced me to leave behind,

Those whose company and friendship was a beacon in my myriad of lost days -

Wondering, today, where some of you have ended up.

The ledger sheet isn't harsh: that which I've borrowed

I've tried to return and, God knows, I've left enough behind.

It is a curious sense of freedom,

Finally free of guilt to enjoy what is mine and to walk away.

I mean to endure. I mean to matter. Uncertainties fulfilled.

Right now, I'm drinking it in - every colour and contrast,

Every nuance and impossibly precious characteristic

That defines who we are.

Every ever changing aspect of precipice, paddock and plain

In a land I love...

I'm travelling on.

IS a word not yet spoken silent? Is a word not yet spoken quiet with no sound with no meaning. Is a word not yet spoken a word at all? A word is a word is it not? No its more, its the way you say it its the way you live up to it without a word spoken we could not ask to eat we could not ask to drink we could not say hello, goodbye. Is a word not yet spoken silent?

marital status denied(though not yet requested)

it's awfully hard to bend so far back

when falling doesn't just mean landing

it means losing something along the way

sometimes i feel like i see you

even though i know you aren't there

you know you don't see things like me

and you don't know what i look like

and neither of us have a ring,

and if i was down on one knee

how the hell would you know?

because eyes tell stories all the time

even when they're closed

and people turn down proposals

every now and then

it's not something new

and it's not something borrowed

perhaps it's only meant to be blue.

------------------------------------

"Joyous"

Deep down you feel pride

Self-assure of today's love

Hoping joy will come your way

Showing someone you care brings out

the joy in your heart

Peace, on earth is all we need

But peace we can not heed

Trust a matter if complement

Reown the joy of love

Do you see the fears

The peace we now endure

Let joy become of peace to us

and peace we shall receive.

------------------------------------

BEYOND REACH

Trying so hard,

to be kind.

Going through life,

only to find.

The one you love,

you cannot have.

So you spend your time,

being sad.

Watching her move,

so very fine.

You think of her,

and she clouds your mind.

She is so close,

and yet so far.

Hoping for a chance,

you wish upon a star.

-------------------------

-a different world

Different by the way it appears,

Or different by the sound you hear?

Different by the way you walk along the sidewalks,

or different by the way she talks?

different by the smell of the flowers

or different by the strong power?

different by the way t taste,

or different by the way our paste?

different by the way of the past,

or different by the way it flew by so fast?

different by the way of the book,

or different by the way you took?

different by the way it grows,

or different by the way he knows?

different by the way you can see all those trees,

or different by the way the waves roll in the seas?

no matter how different you see the world,

someone else always sees it different.

strong

i am a woman

expected to stay pure and innocent

yet expected to put out for anyone who asks

i am a woman

taught to fear the power my body has

i've learned to fear man

i am a woman

afraid of my guy friends

fearing to be alone

fearing the dark

fearing undressing in the safty of my room

i am a woman

afraid yet proud

oppressed but learning to break free

i am tired of being silent

i will be heard by other people around me

i cannot keep this all bottled up inside

--------------------------------------

CRAZY FOR YOU.

This is it without a doubt,

your the one im crazy about.

Like the birds in the morning they sing,

to look into your eyes the joy it brings.

You're so peaceful like a dove,

that's the reason why im in love.

If you feel the same about me ,

come by my side an let us be.

--------------------------------

Bench Warmer

Coach i just want to go out and play.

You make me mad when I sit here on the bench all day.

Why don't you put me down where I belong?

The season's almost and I might be gone.

You make me to never wanna play,

the game is stupid anyway.

I could have been good or great,

but now you make me think I have now fate.

I know I'm not the best on the field.

Please coach give me a chance I will not yield.

Coach I just want to go out and play.

Instead of sitting here on the bench all day

I Am

I am the one who loves you, I am the one who cares

I am the one who's waiting in silence and in prayer.

I am the one who worries, I am the one who knows,

I am the one who wishes that, somehow you would know.

I am the one who wonders, I am the one who copes,

I am the one who's waiting for any sign of hope.

I am the one who's weary, I am the one who's sad,

I am the one who's heart is breaking very bad.

I am the one who struggles, I am the one who cries,

I am the one who's lonely without you by my side.

Time Menagerie
by Sean Ryan

In the menagerie we twist,

lamenting all the things we missed,

and all the things that come to call,

or that it won't come at all.

Sunday afternoon's decay

alights eternity's delay.

In the mud where Caddy sat,

is where incessant sins are at.

After all, who wants to live

like that, with life in a sieve,

for a sieve is what life really is,

not an hourglass whose sands will kiss

the bottom and then be reversed.

--------------------------

: i think i am alive..

it is the feeling that i get when walking down the streets

and yet when encountering human beings

i freeze up

and wonder

if they see me.

i think i am alive.

there are two empty beer bottles

next to the place i sleep

and i don't drink

(or so i say)

so i don't know where they came from.

another human animal probably deposited them in the night.

i ache

i writhe

i think i am alive.

and the pages of my life

unfold

and get wet

when it rains.

--------------------------------

An Honest Response

When questions stain my mind

and truth like water runs

through my open fingers

quick as winters' sun,

When pictures flash then fade

and memory won't keep

the quiet little secrets

painted on my sleep,

When silent nights are longer

than the winter moon

and no place seems kinder

than the budding ground of June,

I cry my tears of anger

my shaking sobs of shame

and sink to find the bottom

of the well that calls my name.

--------------------------------------

Never again

Are we to be friends

That is the way

He thought it should play

And deep in my heart

Never will our love part

Doing the letting go

And he'll just let it blow

Never again

In my wildest dreams

Ever will we

Love each other as it seems

Scared of the things

He will allow

Or scared of the things

Beneath my heart's plow

Ever will I love thee; by thy eternal vow

---------------------------

as i sit in my room ,

thinking of you,

the tears start to pour,

I'm losing you to.

your all that matters,

in this world of despair,

but you've just proved,

that you don't care,

there's something wrong,

when you say your willing to share,

the one your supposed to love.

so i know its me,

and i have to go,

but you cant see,

i cant let it show.

we've been through this before,

all i am is a whore,

i feel like ive been washed to shore.

so nothing matters,

your totally gone.

as i sit in mi room,

thinking of you,

the blood starts to pour,

ive lost you to,

theres nothing worth living for.

-------------------------------

BROKEN PROMISE

There you are

With your heart on the floor

In pieces, tatters, and tears.

Wrestling with sadness,

Fighting back loneliness, Becoming the prisoner of fears.

Here I am

With my arms holding you, Knowing not where to start.

Kissing soft cheeks,

Drying the tears,

And mending a young, broken heart.

There you go

Looking brave, head held high,

Not a trace of your pain.

You know where I am,

When charades are too hard,

Come, let me

--------------------------------

SHE

broke me

into

a thousand shards

"Oh well, get over it!"

then SHE tried to glue them together

It didn't work the same

the valves only let her recieve

half love.

Now I'm leaving her,

or am I leaving here?

we talked about it last night.

I cried.

That was the only part that hurt

----------------------------------

As the rain pours down I think of a better day,

when someone I love will sweep me away.

Alone in this world is so cruel and cold.

As rain pelts down harder, a storm will unfold.

It's now hard to think of a better day,

maybe not everyone really finds their way.

Lost in this world is hopeless and dreary,

as the rain slows down, the thunder gets weary.

The sun breaks through the colds and I finally see,

the worst day has not yet come for me.

There will be one day when the sun won't break,

the rain will fall harder, the thunder will shake.

My fear for that day grows stronger and stronger.

For the lightning will crash and it always lasts longer.

ANTZI

my favorite box

is always empty

and green

i will recall this

gift

together with apples

and chains of languid

leaves

but if you sing

frantic

with me

or sleep under chanting

storms

we will consume

day

like honey

and plant stars

in gardens

of scorn.

-------------------------

I feel you

and I see you

I smell you, hear you

but you are NOT there

my fingers touch your skin

it feels like touching an empty space

a disguise in heaven

what happened

where did you go

why would you fly

and leave me behind

where did you go

when did I lose you

WHEN did your soul go for a walk?

---------------------

Generation Gap

Although you may think that I am just a kid,

I will be responsible for the wrongs that you did,

Maybe in the past but it works out the same,

You don't like me so you put me to shame.

My whole generation is going to be,

Making up for the errors you chose not to see.

Overlooking little things, you stomped your way through,

Not knowing what we would be forced to do,

To make up for the wrongs you not knowingly done,

And believe me man that's not gonna be fun.

But still we work hard to make up for the past,

And if we do not, these problems will last,

Into the future and maybe beyond,

For the next generation to break this bond,

But unlike you I will give it a rest,

I'll give those kids a little respect.

My life in between two worlds

leaves me constantly hurled

everything that once was clear is now in a furl

like an old sea captain i drift into the unknown parallels

My own little cell creating my own little hell

will i sink or swim or am i being pushed under

my mom trys to reach me her voice becomes thunder

damn i plunder

then float

what the hell the devil plays me a joke

i'm like pinochio on strings

i'd fly if i had wings

or like your holiday bird would i be shot down

not even worth your meal would i be left on the ground

Seeing pictures in the dark oh XXXX did drown

On the up side i ride on a cloud of dreams

like i'm high nigga is shootin the breeze

i write my poetry to get away from the world

like no doubt what choices do i have i'm just a girl

i hide behide a false identity

because if the world knew little indy

well what would i be

what would they see

would they take me apart piece by piece

so i hide under time ceased

i could go on forever on how i live like the saint

not knowing who i really am

a person you could change like a picture with paint

i shout i cry does the world hear me

i'm not afraid of death just afraid of waiting to see...

the last thing i will taking my last breath feeling the last tremor on my skin

then it all ends

not crazy or sick just ready developed and hopeful that someone will understand.

Fate takes you as far as it can go

and then it's your turn to run the show

No one can tell you what to do

All you do must come from you

All you lonely souls out there

Remember not to be despaired

For everything that comes to you

has come to make a better you

What you must always remember

is that love is your protector

And whatever you wish to do

if you have love, it will come true.

Drugs

I'm not interested in your heart, soul or mind

your opinion means nothing to me

I'm just here to rob you blind

i will take away your dignity, you lust for life and pride

and all in the making

act as though I'm on your side

I will shred away your will to live

and pick at you piece by piece

I will take away all you have to give

you will learn to depend on me

all of those that you love most

you will make cry

but me, I won't shed a tear

I live to make you die

so now that you've lost everything

and now you rest in peace

you have come to learn the hard way

that what you wanted most, you needed least

Enchanted I

Enchanted I

by her my Liana Sidhe

Caught like a fish

upon a lure of bonnie smiles;

Bewitched by all her craft

that ever before me stands.

Enchanted I

by two deep pools of blue

and hair, gold and I very entwined,

by cameo silk, moon glossed skin

fragrant, warm, inviting

evoking the tempest of my passion.

Enchanted I

By some form of witchcraft

Spun by forces beyond my depth

and I like a fly to the web,

helplessly await to be devoured

consumed spirit, flesh and body.

Enchanted I

by what work of Gods' involved

to send swiftly that ancient arrow

that flies from cupids bow so swift

to engulf the beats of this heart,

draining the soul drop by drop

till all that is me within her dwells.

Enchanted forever,

Enchanted to you.

Insider not inside

Looking into the window of your own home

Wondering what you've missed

And what you still have to learn

Insider not inside

Maybe you're really just an outsider

Lust and Falsity

The spool of bound emotions

Release the thread so unevenly

In unexpected curves of love

And passion.

Love for one who may guess it is there

But will not address it.

Convoluted ideas of happiness and its splendor

Twist my life into a joke.

Why tempt me with such

Lust and falsity?

What point but to watch me squirm

With disgust and intrigue?

How could I look away from

The accident that is my love for you?

You know I am in too deep

To ever let go.

Cleopatra.

Cleopatra had a thirst for life,

and a thirst for love.

For Caesar and Mark-Anthony she made a wife,

as gentle as a dove.

To Rome she was a downfall,

To Egypt, a queen,

To Octavius a mastermind,

But Octavius was mean.

If you say her with her son,

My story you would believe,

But I am rather opinionated,

For haven't you yet seen,

She is my idol,

She is my queen.

As fast as I can

Open and close my eyes

You melt away like magic.

When she works her guitar

and croons her happy trailer songs

they listen

Every week they come

to drown their wives

there to that dimly lit

She brings them back

strums their hearts

smiles their fears

THE MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE

A MAN WITHOUT A MIND IS LIKE A MOUTH WITHOUT A TASTE

THE MIND IS POWERFUL, DEEP THOUGHTS FLOWING

THE MIND IS CREATIVE, CONSTANTLY WORKING AND KNOWING

HOW TO GUIDE YOU

HOW TO LEAD THE WAY

A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE FORM DAY TO DAY

DON'T LET YOUR MIND WANDER ASTRAY

Where I Belong
Sharon Frost

I was walking through this life as if in a daze

when all of a sudden I heard a sweet tune

It was the month of June

It came from afar and my resistance, I felt weakening

Your voice was like a soft touch across my brow

as I walked closer to you following those lovely sounds

I saw you standing there

Your fingers strumming the chords of your guitar

like the touch of your fingertips across my breasts

You eyes flashing like stars

My body swaying to the song as I clung to you

Breathing in the sent of your cologne as my tongue danced along your jaw

creating a path of delight I tried with all my might

to resist this temptation

But struggle as I might I am just not willing to take flight

I found myself wrapped in your arms softly singing along

Looking up into your eyes and realizing that

this is ... where I truly belong

FATHER
Jennifer Riley

all the things I never learned

were things you should have taught me

everything I wanted to be

you should have encouraged me

all I wanted was stability

but instead I'm insecure

almost seventeen and you should know me

but you don't

all you know is what you want from me

but you don't understand

why I can't give that to you

why I shouldn't have to

all this time you've ignored me

wasn't I important enough to know

money was all you wanted

to get to know

you missed me growing up

you never even knew I did

you want the years back as do I

but we played this game for too long

and it's too late

for you to be my father

Me

I gaze at my past- its like

a movie screen,

my feelings torn

right at the seam

The person in my memories

can surely not be me

The girl inside who I used to be

is buried deep inside of me

I keep her trapped, never to be seen,

because I hated who I was

I regret that I have only one life

because maybe I could do it right.

Only if I could fall asleep one night

and begin it all again.

I look in the mirror and all I see

is the woman that stares before me,

but still that girl cries

out wanting to be part of me

I had left that person that I hated,

but she still lives as I have stated

deep inside, never to come out

I barely hear her scream and shout

As I try to remember all my youth

I can't believe what I see is the truth

The person that I used to be

surely isn't me

--------------------------

what to do...
Matthew Sheppard

i just don't know what to do...

all the pain in this world...

my wish was for us to all be pure...

the only answer i could find is in a tear cried by the lord...

my soul has lived with out the death of love...

i can't die here, not like this...

the other side is too confusing...

and i never really wanted to live with reality...

to be special like a balloon filled with faith...

is beyond me and no explanation can ever replace this perfect face...

i'm at lost and have run out of wishes...

so love never was enough to stop what we'll always create...

i just don't know what to do...

Rhetorical Destruction

In our demolition of metallic wasteland

lies the coming of absolute finish.

Perhaps not in this lifetime,

but almost as surely as an ailing time piece

cannot heal itself.

So while trees are replaced

but structures not of the earth,

will we all continue to forget nature's hard work

and fall prey to the belief

that we have the right...

or will omniscience turn away laughing

with the thought

that we were incurably selfish

and sure to fall

regardless.

I Need Your Love
Sandra Osterhout

I need a man who won't ask me to be what he needs, but lets me exist as i am.

My heart sick of all things I'm dying to tell you.

Steady yourself, love.

Lose not your faith now, for I need it to strengthen my own.

I want your heart.

Awaken, love.

So sweet and always falling.

We are a pair. For without you, I would be awkward.

But alone, simply alone.

My mind turns to you.

I wish you could hold me in your arms.

You tell my heart it's okay but, sometimes i feel my heart fall to vague depths.

I am not loving in vain. I guess what I want to hear is you'll stay with me forever.

You could be loving me but, I don't believe you. I wil, I do, maybe, possibly, eventually, I'm trying.

Tell me my heart will not break. At first it seemed shocking, an unbelievable feeling.

I am loved by you.

------------------------

You Are My Angel

you gave me the key to your heart and never looked back

I lost myself every time I opened the door

Forgetting this is happiness, trying to stay on track

Your smile brightens my dark world, your laughter awakens my soul

I touch you to know you are real

It is my broken heart you have made whole

Are you a true angel whose wings do not show

Or are you my soulmate i need to find

It will be okay if you never tell me for I do not want to know

I will keep your smile in my heart when I can't touch your lips

And you breath near my lips

And when you return I won't ask where you've been

It was probably just heaven.

There's the one for me

Sittng under that tree

I have to go talk to her

Wow! her voice is like a cat at purr

I know this poem sucks a fat one

But I wonder how she has fun?

I can't hardly speak a word

Because I feel like a compleat nerd

I'll give it a try

If she didn't like it, she could say bye

Here I am sitting under a tree

with Jeanne sitting right next to me

Is she playing a game?

Or does she really feel the same?

As I do about her????

All I can do is stare

At Jeanne sitting there

She is staring at me

I think it's meant to be

Wouldn't you agree?

Believe in Me

Believe in me my love and I shall always be there

I will wipe your tears away and make you smile

My hand will hold yours tightly and guide you

And my arms will surround you in the dark

Believe in me my love and I shall always be there.

When the days are long and you can't go on, I will comfort you

As the nights turn into an eternity, my love will give you strength

I will always be lying next to you and gently kissing your face

I will take care of you now and forever

Believe in me my love and I shall always be there.

When the pain subsides, the sun will brightly shine

Someone new will put a smile upon your face

New hopes and dreams you will both create

But deep in your heart our special love will remain

Believe in me my love and I shall always be there.

My troubles are over,

My battle has been won.

And you came to my rescue,

I knew that you were the one.

Your strong hands, how they held me,

And you promised never to let go.

I instantly fell in love with you

But I never could let you know.

You were my hero right from the start

My knight in shining armor.

Someone who truly saved me.

Someone I could truly adore.

But how could I tell you

What I was feeling inside?

To such an amazing creature

With so much love and pride?

Simplicity
Brandon Michael

A million flowers bloom

A million flowers die

And suddenly a pain subsides

The rain pours down

And drowns out the sky

Water surrounds me and drips in my eye

As the waves of the ocean crash

A whisper by my ear does pass

Chilling is its secret

And confusing is its riddle

But by now I know

The only thing confusing is confusion

With a sigh and a Smile

It all seems so simple

Love

Walking down the hallways of school,

He searches for the one thing he misses.

Many people consider him a fool,

But all of their taunts he easily dismisses.

He closes his locker and looks both ways,

To find the girl he loves so dear.

Her beauty puts him into a phase,

But his unrequited love causes him to fear.

All his friends say she's too good for him,

That most dreams don't come alive.

For a moment they make the outlook dim,

But for her love, he will always strive.

He wishes he could talk to her,

But his fear overcomes his strong will.

He knows that sometime he will err,

And she will see nothing in him still.

He sees her walk into the hall,

He wishes he could have her forever.

His locker is next to hers on the wall,

He decides it is now or never.

"How's it going?" he struggled to say,

He had finally started to talk.

"So far I'm not really having a good day."

The fact that she answered him was a shock.

They talked together for a while,

But he had to head for class.

He thought he talked to her with style,

With all the courage he could amass.

Fear was no longer inside of him now,

It took him a while to unwind.

He wasn't exactly sure how,

But he had done the impossible in his mind.

Life Elsewhere
By Matthew Timmons

A universe of mysteries.

Mathematical probability underlying years of unanswered questions.

The long lasting unsolved equation of the possible existence of other life.

Are we alone in the universe?

Probably not.

Are we ready to receive and accept such life other than our own humanity?

If we cant handle our own species, what makes us think we are ready to

accept another?

like a hot wax candle secrets melt from your soul as i light a fire

transparent in the whole you were less but at one time appeared much more

beneath an imaginary halo your soft touch left my innocent heart sore

lies kept you sane and kept me occupied in a perfect mirage believing,

and dreaming, that fidelity was all of your conceiving

and my guardian angel must have loved me beyond the rain

for she thrust my eyes open, and endured strength to take pain

the twisted life you've lived was no longer unseen to inflict

i felt sure of ridding your burdens of guilt and dramatic conflict

your face should be hidden since shame will shine through,

but if you remain the same for eternity, than eternity for me is with someone new.

>>>>>>>>>Scarred

My heart a painful memory, my soul a tragic death

Eaten alive by myself, drowning in bane

No where to run, No one to love

I've locked away everything that mattered

And all that's left is death on the rise

Afraid to take my own life, I stagger on

Waiting for the day that irony arrives

And everything is lost in the obscurity

How long will it take for Hell to emerge

And take with it my body empty of all

What was it about the perception of love

That drew me to my contempt of despise

The desire to hate, the hate of love, the love of none

What wrong doing did I do to deserve all of this

I fell in love with you only to find my own agony

Deeper than the darkest depths of misery

And still I sit and wait for Hades to come for me

But you have no sense of what it's like

To be the one whose life is on the line

For once I wish it were you whose life you abused

Then might you understand what hell you put me through

FOR YOU.
NADIA URBANO

I'VE DONE FOR YOU WHAT NO ONE ELSE WOULD DO I'VE LOVED YOU WITH ALL MY HEART.

I'VE GIVEN TO YOU THE THINGS, NO ONE ELSE COULD SUPPLY. I'VE GIVEN TO YOU MY DEAR MY LOVE AND AFFECTION.

I'VE SHOWN TO YOU THE THINGS THAT OTHERS COULD SHOW , BUT ALSO TO YOU I'VE SHOWN TO YOU ONE THING THAT OTHERS CAN'T AND THAT IS MY LOVE, AFFECTION, AND FULL DEVOTION.

I'VE BEEN THERE FOR YOU WHEN NO ONE ELSE WAS THERE AND ON MY BEING THERE I GAVE TO YOU, MY LOVE , MY AFFECTION, AND MY TIME,

I'VE LISTENED TO YOU WHEN NO ONE ELSE WOULD AND I'VE DONE THIS WITH ALL MY LOVE, AFFECTION, FULL DEVOTION TIME AND WITH ALL EARS OPENED TO LISTEN TO ALL YOU HAD TO SAY.

THAT'S WHY I'VE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THIS HERE DAY THAT I'VE LOVED YOU IN A MOST SPECIAL WAY AWAY NO ONE ELSE COULD DISPLAY.

SO I'LL ALWAYS CONTINUE TO SAY AWAY FROM OR CLOSE TO ME I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU IN A WAY NO ONE ELSE COULD. I'VE LOVED YOU NOT ONLY WITH LOVE BUT WITH AFFECTION, WITH FULL DEVOTION AND I'VE GIVEN TO YOU MY TIME AND EAR FOR YOUR COMFORT AND PLEASURE.

I'LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU IN MY OWN SPECIAL WAY.

Conscience is a prying aunt

Who invariably comes to call--

Doors are locked and windows shut--

Ears waiting hear your rowdy

Friends inside your filthy house--

And then she knocks the louder--

Then through the window peers--

Until at last you bid her in--

Then feel compelled to push out the rest--

Becoming sobered once again.

Into a sea of darkness

I'm falling into a vast emptiness,

It's so dark and cold in here

I'm frightened, and lonely, and I fear,

That there is no way out of this place

of darkness and emptiness that I face,

As I look into the mirror I see

nothing looking back at me,

No feelings, just darkness to devour my soul

for only I will ever know,

I see the Angels up above

their sending me their divine Love,

They are standing by my side

What do I see? Am I going to hide?

Away from the darkness that's still inside

or begin to take a spiritual ride,

So I'll take one step, that's all I'll need

to find the peace that I believe,

Will free my soul from the darkest night

for that one step is full of light.

----------------------------

Silence stills the earth

The only sound, the rapid beating of my heart

Waiting to hear the words that will send my pulse over heaven's edge

I hold my breath in anticipation

You whisper those words softly in my ear

I close my eyes, exhaling slowly with pleasure

Repeating those words heard only moments before...

I love you dear!

Searching For An Answer

Life lingers on and on.

Generations come and gone.

People live and then they die.

With our minds we wonder 'why?'

Searching for an answer still-

They make up beliefs to fill:

Since time on earth goes by quite fast,

Many think it's too long to last.

Misery fills them to the rim.

Their lives are becoming very dim.

When that misery will over flow,

Emotions they can't handle come and go.

Nobody hears their crying call.

They then decide to end it all.

Selfishness is what it was,

Hurting love is all it does.

Engaging in any thoughts like that,

Isn't where the answer's at.

Pain

They say they know the feeling,

But they don't know my pain.

My pain does not come from my wound,

But the scar that still remains.

My pain involves my loneliness,

Along with all my fears.

It's all my anger, all my hate,

Expressed through all my tears.

It's everything I hold inside,

So all the world won't see:

Between the cracks of happiness,

My pain is killing me.

All is gone from you and me.

I know our friendship is over and done.

You said it would last for eternity.

But you saw something I didn't see.

You're the one who ended it all.

You went away and let me fall.

And so your ship went out a sail

Into the hurricane; thunder prevail-

The storm hit you so mercilessly,

And all was lost into the sea.

I read your poem I wasn't meant to read

You never wanted me too see it

But I have

And now its in the "never talk about this" pile

But I cant help but wonder

Even though I know, you know I know

And yet as my mind wanders,

I hate the fact of what I know

I cant quite understand

And that's why you won't talk to me

I know I'll never understand

I wish it were me

You don't.

Maybe when you see my poem

You'll see

Maybe not.

I'm so sick of these thoughts

I wish I were a kid again.

But even that won't fix things

All I can say is Oh Well

You, now. My life passing yours

The Years Go By

I don't Lie:

Have a sunny day,

Swim in the bay.

The sun doth shine.

The rain falls in a line.

The trees whisper come hither.

I am all in a dither.

The birds fly across the southern sky.

The horses eat and they say hi

To the rider who loves the air.

The kids play fair.

The years go by.

As they will - goodbye.

What is Lost, and not yet Found

A young friend

Destroyed by Hate

Unnourished by love.

Y have u left me my little friend?

My anger has torn us apart,

His rage, his hate bore me in this direction

Y was he there? Y do we hate?

Y can't love conquer all as it's supposed to?

I want 2 luv, but am impaired

I wish not 2 hate, but find myself compelled 2

Y do I? Y do I?

All hate is, is lost love, unfound

Never ever found

Someone inside me, Alive.

These tears I am crying, are they of joy, or of lamenting regret?

I touch my own stomach, and hide my face in shame.

I am alone, even though this child will be with me all the time.

I'm alone because the other half cried tears of disarray and his own immaturity.

But I cannot just leave, it's not that easy.

So here I stand, walking into a dark tunnel of the unknown.

But suddenly something feels different,

Something hurts, it's a pain of the way things used to be.

Before this thing was inside of me.

And abruptly I know it's all over.

This experience was so short, so emotional.

These tears I am crying, are they of relief or misery?

What will you do?

We are so young, yet the world is so old.

We are so warm, yet the world is so cold.

We are so bright, yet the world is dreary.

We are so strong, yet the world is weary.

You can see the hope emanating from our eyes,

But when we look around, there is nothing but despise.

We are one nation, yet so divided.

Led by those who are misguided.

There are those who love, equaled by those who hate.

By the time we realize what we've done, it will be all too late.

Our world will be gone and we will be stranded.

Hurt by the wickedness that we have commanded.

They say that children are the future, leaders of tomorrow.

At the rate we're going, we will be a nation of sorrow.

They say the end is near, when we will have to go,

And tell our Lord why we've treated his world so.

I know I will tell him I have tried my best,

Working harder than some, but certainly no less.

And when the Lord turns and asks you,

What will you say, what will you do?

"Darkness Around My Soul"

The night sky fill the air with a passing of day,

In which my soul calls with morbid tones to slay;

I hold nothing of worth so I die!

The dark, oh how is thee?

Your shine of the known intoxicates my soul.

Where am I to be in the world?

I know my fate. To be lost in the dark.

I shall embrace the hate, the pain of morning, the darkness in my mind.

And when I die I say only that the dark has cast my soul to the ways of life.

Why is the world filled with the dark? The answer is known but to

my soul the answer is as clear as the ice of my Arctic heart.

And their I die alone, with my heart, my soul in the hellish darkness of my life.

Why Me?
Beth Kimball-Wilmott
revised version 6-07-99

I feel I am on deathrow.

I know I am condemned.

I feel my life just started.

I know I don't want it to end.

Why me I ask, Why? Why? Why?

I am so young but soon I will die.

I have taken life for granted.

Until it took me by surprize.

It lives inside my head and opening my hazel blue eyes.

I feel restless as I watch my family sigh.

Why me I ask. Why? Why? Why?

I am so young but soon I will die.

It's like some sort of time bomb.

Just ticking away.

There's little to know prevention

It could blow up any day.

I'm going to have a headache.

after I'll be dead.

I'm sorry to those I have affected,

for it's what my doctor said.

Why me I ask,Why? why?why?

I am so young but soon I will die.

Escape

You can't ever escape-

There's just no way out-

Standing forever without motion.

Looking around with a hope filled eye;

But it's all the familiar scenery.

The landscape, forever still.

Looking back trying to remember;

Remember how you got here,

And to maybe find the route out of this place.

But it's still just as you remembered it,

Can't turn away from this life,

So you look inside for help,

But all you can find is emptiness.

You feel the FEAR beginning to set it,

It's creeping up your legs,

Without thinking you begin to run.

And when you can't run anymore,

You stumble and fall to your knees

When you have the energy,

you pull yourself up off the ground.

Your eyes are open wide with hope,

But as you have always known,

You're right where you began, unable to escape the Dream,

The Dream we all share, The Dream called Life

Only You and Me

At the end of the day

I put everything at bay

Slip you into my arms

Keep you safe and warm

talk, kiss, hold

You are my gold

Handle with care

Only I am aware

how my world

would be,

If there wasn't you and me.

Genesis....

In my darkest hour you came.

I didn't know then but soon I'd discover a friend,

A lover.

Euphoria...

Making me smile.

Days are brighter now.

Can't believe this happened so fast.

I don't want to loose you...but this is a dangerous game.

You...

Something new.

Never known a person like you.

Don't go.

By K.Noble

---------------------

You made me pause and take a look

to fell and see, to listen and to free myself

once more

You made me open my heart

to let in the light and happiness again

You made me realize

how precious we all are

how helpless without love

how lonely without God

you opened my eyes, my heart,

and my soul

You made us one and set us free

Let me always be there for you, for us

let me help you fill your soul,

like you do mine

let us both grow into one

one life

one love

one small

big happiness

I love you!

...Melting Murder...-

By: FREDEN

I'm defleshed in a cylindrical container,

Disrobed of my skin, It's peeled off my body in sheets,

My vulnerability is so overwhelming that I have difficulty breathing,

In wisdom is the ability to know the sensations of naked pain,

I volunteered for this job and now I'm wondering if it was a mistake.

-------------------------------

I don't want to feel this deep and pulsating fear

That fear that portrays the roots of my neglected soul

Afraid that this fantasy image of pure fulfillment will

finally invade my spirit for the rest of my time

So I sit with that fear, and dwell in that fear, letting

it continue to make me unchanged

Onward March
Elizabeth Coulton

our love so cherished,

two persons into one.

never will i forget you,

never will we be done.

forget what people say;

don't turn around.

my one true love has been found.

no one can tear us apart

through deceit or lies.

never will i leave you,

never will i say goodbye.

our love an conquer anything.

hearts of fire,

storms of death.

neither through the lips of a liar.

onward my love,

we must march.

walk away from our past as two

and into our future as one.

---------------------------

I lie still on my bed always alone.

I think of you and your satanic eyes.

It's not love I feel, it's desperation.

I feel so lost and helpless. I could just die.

I close my eyes in despair, my escape,

Tears roll and tumble over my moist face.

I cover myself in sheets like a cape,

Sleeping, dreams come and slip away like lace

My face, shades of pink and red will never conceal,

The truth I have hidden in me for so long.

No one will ever see the pain that will kill,

The life in me that has and will always wrong.

I live among dark demons, hand in hand

And we shall die together, hand in hand.

THE POWER OF GOOD-BYE

The power of good-bye is the strongest words , it goes strait to the heart

of anyone right then and there , it strikes like a sword or a dagger to the soul

and the soul bleeds of many sorrows of the power of good-bye is very strong and

powerful as the word of death of course that's a total different poem.

---------------------------------

My ears are filled with water,

I cannot hear what you are saying about me.

I don't need to listen to all the negativity.

I know what I am,

I know what you see,

I can't take it any more - I don't want to listen!

I am closing my eyes and shutting you out.

I won't let you in,

I don't know why you're trying.

:The bird flies by night,

Has the owl sleeps in the light.

The man is alone at sea,

And on this vast earth he is a flea.

The baby cries for attention,

Has the old man waits for death with patience.

The world is ready for its last turn,

May the tree never burn.

Take the pain has the last year is upon,

For the last day won't be long.

A Smile

A smile can determine many things.

There are joyous smiles,

ones that crinkle your face, and leave rings.

Others to show and accomplished trial.

Friends smile at one another,

indicating all the joys and tears.

Enemies grin at each other.

Showing their worst fears.

Families show their laughter.

Their smiles lighting the sky.

Knowing they will be together ever after.

Even when it is time to say good-bye.

There are many smiles in our hearts.

One, though, is very needed;

The one that shows a new start,

and promises to grow as quickly as a seed.

Heart to Heart, Soul to Soul

Lord, Let me live in harmony

with those you send my way

let me be a blessing

in all I do or say.

Take away the "blinders"

that are hindering my view

let me see thru eyes of love

the way you want me to.

Forgive me for prejudging

the outer shell of man

let me see inside the heart

where innocence began.

Let me be convicted

when I fail to reach the goal

to "love without exception"

heart to heart, soul to soul.

My Own

They always say,

"The pen is mightier than the sword"

The funy thing is I'm starting to believe it

Then there's Cyrano, who used both

Now I'm totally confused

One says write, One says fight

I want both

My skin crawls

Into my empty cavity of self

She wants to hide from decisions the world over

Just wants life to leave her be

The same with me

I want to survive my way

To do what I say

Just to exist in my own flame

To love, live, laugh, and create

To feel life before I create it

To know love as a friend and an enemy

Before I make it

By my own ... with you

----------------------------

Tattered, tittered, tortured and torn,

Beaten, abused, humiliated and sworn,

To secrecy.

Abducted, ravaged, disintegrated,

Into a state of

Unconsciousness.

Frozen, dumped, hacked,

Amputated from the soul,

Forgotten.

Crying, laying motionless,

Terrified, absent from

Yourself.

Wretched, alone, helpless,

In a pool of

Urine.

Hopeless, abandoned, dehumanized,

Broken, beaten,

Withered.

Hungry, thirsty, innocence lost,

Wilted, thrown on to a block of

Frozen sewage.

Left, emotionless, apathetic,

Alive and deceased,

Rotten.

I've been looking at your poems...they are for the most part flat, dull and valueless.

People, realize this: being abused, molested, a victim, black, depressed, etc does not automatically make one a good poet. Writing a couple of sentences and then setting each line off with a comma does not a poem make.

Creativity is not about following a formula,

Creativity is not whining about how crappy your life is,

Creativity is not using words like "ho" and "bitch" and then feeling proud about the artistic usage of gutter slang,

Creativity is not randomness, for if it were only the universe itself could be truly creative,

Creativity is not asking the same questions as everyone else and then expecting to be called original,

Creativity is not about writing the same now as you did in high school, a time when you were graded on your ability to come to the "correct" conclusion and were taught to rebel in a preprogrammed fashion,

Creativity is not about "affirming" something about yourself over which you have no control,

Creativity is not about being stuck in the past,

Creativity is not about automatically rebelling against "the system",

Creativity is something you attain through questioning everything (even this), especially the things you now take for granted.

Please do better.
